2012 Federation Cup to kick off from 19th September in Siliguri and Ranchi

The prestigious 2012 Federation Cup, which will be the 35th edition of the annual tournament, is all scheduled to kick off from September 19, and it will be another treat for Indian football lovers after the Nehru Cup concludes.

Due to unforeseen circumstances All India Football Federation (AIFF) had to move the tournament out of Assam and into its new home in the cities of Ranchi and Siliguri.

Meanwhile the final of the showpiece event will be held in Siliguri on September 30. Group A comprises I-League champions, Dempo SC and also Mumbai FC, Pailan Arrows and Shillong Lajong FC. Group B is made up of 13 times winners, Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers, Air India and Qualifier 1.

East Bengal and Sporting Clube de Goa make up the muscle of Group C, which also has newly promoted ONGC FC and qualifier 2. Reigning champions Salgaocar SC are in a difficult group with Pune FC, Prayag United and United Sikkim FC being the others in Group D.

September 26 will be hosting the first semi-finals between the winners of Group A and D, while the second semi final, on the very next day will be contested between champions of Group B and C.
