Federation Cup Final, Lajong FC Vs East Bengal (Mango Peel)
East Bengal

Abhra Mondal (gk) – 9: He didn’t have to make too many saves in 120 minutes but did come out confidently twice to deny Tuboi. Three saves in the shootout not only gave his team their sixth title but also ensured that the red and gold brigade won the Federation Cup without conceding any goal.

Nirmal Chettri (rb)–  7: The Sikkimese defender had one nervous moment in the second half but looked solid overall. He also kept his cool and converted his spot kick.

Uga Okpara (cb) – 7.5: The Nigerian as expected won everything in the air and led the defence to yet another clean sheet. Despite not being the quickest, he wasn’t troubled too much by the pace of Tuboi and Anil Gurung.

Mehrajuddin Wadoo (cb) – 7: Mehraj has been performing well in this competition and continued his good form in the final also. He didn’t take any risks and often made some important clearances.

Saumik Dey (lb) – 6: The full back did get forward into some good positions in the first half but wasn’t as inspiring for the rest of the game and thus was replaced in the second period.

Syed Rahim Nabi (rw) – 5: The skipper had an off day as he was wasteful with the ball and also squandered a good opportunity from the corner.

Harmanjot Khabra (lw) – 6: The former Sporting Clube de Goa player first played on the left wing and then was pushed back in a fullback role. He worked hard in both positions but was disappointing with his final ball. The youngster was also unfortunate to hit the bar from his spotkick.

Mehtab Hussain (cm) – 7: His workrate in the middle of the park was once again exceptional and also came close to break the deadlock with a powerful long range effort. He was brave enough to complete the extra time despite getting a few knocks.

Sanju Pradhan (cm) – 6.5: Sanju hasn’t been playing in his natural position under De Ridder but has looked good in patches. He wasn’t consistent with his corners but did cleverly convert the penalty which won the game for side.

Subhash Singh (cm) – 6: In the absence of Alvito, Subhash was played infield for the majority of the game but he didn’t really threaten. He had a good chance in the first half which was well blocked Hoakip

Yusif Yakubu (cf) – 6.5: The Ghanaian did look tired as the game went on but as always looked the most likely East Bengal player to open the scoring. He had a few half chances but couldn’t convert them.

Substitutes:

Budhiram Tudu (rw) – 6.5:
The teenager did looked lively initially after coming on but couldn’t really turn out to be a super sub.

Saikat Saha Roy (rb)- 6: He was probably a bit fortunate to just get a yellow after elbowing Tuboi but wasn’t troubled defensively.

Bhaichung Bhutia (cf) – 6: The Indian captain’s third consecutive substitute appearance wasn’t as eventful as the other two. He was well marked by the Lajong defence.

Shillong Lajong

Gumpe Rime (gk) -8:
The Lajong goalkeeper was yet again in very good form as he made a number of good saves to keep yet another clean sheet. He couldn’t save any penalty in the shootout but there is no doubt that he was one of the best keepers of the tournament.

Boithang Hoakip (lb) – 7: He had to come off late in the second half due to injury but as long he was on the pitch, he looked very sound at the back and kept Nabi very quiet.

Zohmingliana Ralte (cb) – 8: Daniel’s replacement hardly put a foot wrong against some of the best forwards in the country. He made some very important interceptions and marked Yakubu very well throughout the game.

Wailadmi Passah (cb) – 8.5: In the absence of Daniel, the in-from Passah was the leader of Lajong’s backfour. He won several aerial challenges and made several important tackles.

Ailad Kyrnta (rb)- 7:
The fullback didn’t have much joy going forward but was very good defensively. He stopped East Bengal’s left side from getting crosses into the box.

Niwan-o-Gatpoh (rm) – 6:  Niwan worked his heart out on the right side and helped his fullback all the time by tracking back but wasn’t a threat offensively.

Kyrshan Lyngshing (cm) – 6: James Giblee’s suspension made him play in the middle which he didn’t really enjoy but still matched the East Bengal medios. He failed to convert his spotkick in the shootout.

Samson Ramengmawia (cm) – 6.5: The skipper was influential in the middle of the park and competed well against Mehtab and company. But he couldn’t lead by example in the shootout as Abhra Mondal saved his penalty.

Roland Pyngrope (lw) – 4: He was probably the worst performer in the final as he neither could cause any problems to the East Bengal defence nor did he work hard off the ball.

Seikhokhao Tuboi (cf) – 7: One of the players of the tournament came close once in the second half and did take on East Bengal defenders single handedly. But he failed to score and will have to settle for a runners-up finish.

Anil Gurung (cf) – 6: The Nepal international won a few aerial balls but was largely disappointing. He couldn’t keep his nerve in the shootout and saw his spot kick saved by Abhra Mondal.

Substitutes:

Ronald Zothanzama (lb) – 6:
He replaced Hoakip and did defend pretty solidly.

Bengkok Nameirakpam (lw)-6.5 Lajong’s left side looked much more lively after his arrival as he was putting in some good crosses.
