Federation Cup: Bhaichung Bhutia Becomes All Time Topscorer; Indians Have Scored More Than Foreigners
As the Federation Cup reaches its knockout stage, Goal.com's Amoy Ghoshal brings to your notice a few facts and figures on the tournament so far...

Bhaichung Bhutia scored his first goal since his return to the red and gold brigade after controversially leaving arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the summer. Thanks to that late winner against JCT, the Indian captain is now the all time highest scorer in Federation Cup history with 26 goals. Interestingly it came on his fifth wedding anniversary!

Four players are the joint topscorers of this edition with three goals each. They are Abhishek Yadav, Khemthang Paite, Odafa Okolie and Jose Ramirez Barreto. Yadav is the only player to have scored a hat-trick while Churchill skipper Odafa is the only player to have scored in all group matches.
Exactly 50 goals have been scored in 24 matches of the group stage. 23 goals have been scored by foreigners so the Indians have managed to find the net four more times.
Mohun Bagan, Churchill and Mumbai FC scored the most (6) goals in the group stage. Churchill and East Bengal had the best defensive record as they did not let in a single goal.

JCT were the only club who failed to score in the group stage while Bangalore’s HAL conceded the most number (9) of goals. HAL and Mohammedan were the only two teams that got eliminated without scoring any point.
Among the non-semi finalists, Mahindra United scored the maximum points, having won two of their three group games. While Air India scored the most number of points among the four bottom placed teams of each group.
I-League’s bottom placed club Viva Kerala managed three draws and thus exited the competition without losing a match. Pune also suffered the same fate as Lajong qualified from their group only on goals scored.

Shillong Lajong have progressed to the semis of the Federation Cup for the semi finals in their debut appearance. The north eastern club are the only semi finalist who have qualified with just one win while I-League champions Churchill Brothers are the only team who had a hundred percent record in the group stage.

Arch rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will clash in the semi finals of the Federation Cup for the third consecutive edition. The winner of each of the two previous semis has gone on to win the trophy. The two Kolkata giants have eighteen Federation Cup titles between them, with the Mariners winning a record 13 times.

There will be one non-former champion in this edition's final as neither Churchill nor Lajong have won the trophy before. If the Churchil do go all the way and win the competition, then this will be their third trophy of the season, having already won the IFA Shield and Durand Cup.
