Mohammedan Sporting Moves A Step Closer To Federation Cup
A close look at the Federation Cup East Zone Qualifiers...
Kolkata giants Mohammedan Sporting won their opening match defeating North Imphal Sports Association (NISA) by two goals to move a step ahead in the qualification battle.
The Black and White brigade won the match riding on two goals scored by their Brazilian recruit Eduardo Escobar. Incidentally, both goals were scored from set pieces in the 19th and the 87th minute respectively.
It was a hard fought match as both teams had equal chances but it was Mohammedan Sporting who knew excelled in the end with their goals.
Speaking to Goal.com, Mohammedan Coach Shabbir Ali said, “It was a tough match and we knew our opponents from before. Though I am not totally pleased with the team’s performance but I hope my boys will improve as the competition moves to its next stage.”
Mohammedan Sporting will next play Jammu and Kashmir Bank from Srinagar who defeated another Kolkata club George Telegraph by a lone goal in the 64th minute.
The winner from the Mohammedan and Jammu Kashmir Bank match on the 18th of December will get the chance to play in the quarterfinal league in the Federation Cup.
