Mohammedan Sporting Club is all set to return to top flight football after a long gap since being relegated from I-League last season.

The team leaves Kolkata for Guwahati to participate in the Federation Cup East Zone qualifiers. They will battle with George Telegraph (Kolkata), North Imphal Sports Association and Jammu Kashmir Bank.

The Black and White army has participated in four knock-out tournaments this season so far and has lost only one match, which was on a tie breaker.

Speaking about the team’s condition coach Shabbir Ali said, “We are confident about good performances. We have won all the matches in the entire knock out tournaments that we played so far except one match.

“We had a decent run in the Kolkata League as well where we are unbeaten. I believe the boys will be confident of their show in the Federation Cup.”

Mohammedan Sporting team will be boosted with the addition of former JCT Striker Eduardo Escobar.

“Edu and Theo (Theodre Sunday Wrobbeh) are playing well for my team. Indian players like Anupam Sarkar, Naseem Akhtar and Dipendu Biswas are also adding strength to our team.”

Discussing about the opponents in the qualifiers Shabbir Ali said, “We have played against George and defeated them. We also won against NISA and had a good result. J&K Bank are unkown to us but we will give our best shot. We want to play in the main draw of Federation Cup.”
