The Old Lady of Turin pulled off a double against the Men In White of Madrid as they followed up the 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico two weeks’ ago with a similarly efficient display at the Bernabéu to claim a 0-2 triumph.

Juve had no more than five shots at goal all match long but an Alessandro Del Piero double left Bernd Schuster’s side stunned and the German-born coach hailed the Bianconeri’s efficiency infront of goal.

“The scoreline does not reflect what we saw on the pitch. Juventus showed just how effective they were and that was what we were missing,” he said during the post-match conference.

“They had two attempts and they scored two. That effectiveness was what really hurt us.

We shot four or five times and we came up empty handed. Luck wasn’t on our side today but these things just happen sometimes,” he added.

Madrid have now won just once in their last five competitive games but Schuster looked in no way ready to press the panic button.

“I am satisfied with the team and the attitude that we showed. I think we did enough to win today but I don’t believe we lost because of our tactics. We created several chances against a team that defended with ten men,” Schuster detailed.

Madrid are now second in Group H with six points, just two ahead of Zenit St Petersburg. Los Merengues will travel to Belarus to take on BATE Borisov in three weeks’ time and another defeat could put their qualification to the knockout round in serious jeopardy.
