Our three strikers are injured ahead of the game against India – Myanmar coach Park Sung-Wha

The White Angels have to down the Blue Tigers on matchday three of the Challenge Cup qualifiers in order to make it into the main tournament...

Following their disappointing 1-1 draw against Chinese Taipei, Myanmar have a tough task ahead as they need to get the better of India in their final group A fixture which shall eventually decide their fortunes.

Park Sung-Wha was livid with his side’s performance and blamed his men for being too selfish which didn’t help the team’s cause one bit.

“Our players were (showing) a loss in concentration. So I did think before this game that it will be difficult for us. Taipei was good in speed and heading. My team had a problem at the center back.

“The first match against Guam was a good performance but today our performance was down. My players were missing the passing game and there was a lack of team work. A good team is always ready for the game. Today I am sad but not on the result. It is because some players played selfishly,” he pointed.

Myanmar have no choice but to beat group leaders, India and Sung-Wha stated that the Blue Tigers have a far more talented squad than he has at his disposal.

“I have three strikers injured and that is the problem for next match. So some midfielders will play in the striker role. India are a good team and have more talent players than us. But both teams need win and so it will be a good game,” he mentioned.

Meanwhile Chinese Taipei coach Chen Kue Jen mentioned that they have to thank their lucky stars given that they managed to hold the host nation to a 1-1 draw.

“Myanmar is a very good team but Taipei never gave up. We are lucky today because in last minutes a Myanmar player’s shot hit the bar. But we tried out best today. Our tactics were to defend deep and rely on counterattack. In this game, a win would have been good but draw was not so bad I think,” he said.
