Mohammed Kiaz, Chathura Gunarathna and Fazul Rahman all got on the scoresheet for the Lankans.
The hosts got off to a flying start as Mohammed Kiaz gave them the lead in the 7th minute by taking a low shot after Shanmugarajah Sanjeev had sent in a teasing ball into the box.
Bangladesh, who needed to better Tajikistan’s result to reach the last four, tried their best to get the equalizer but were struggling to create clear cut chances.
Banga’s semi final hopes suffered a big blow two minutes before the break when goalkeeper and skipper Animul Haque was sent off for a professional foul just outside the box.
From the resulting free-kick midfielder Chathura Gunaratne bagged Sri Lanka’s to make Bangladesh’s task even more difficult.
Bangladesh struggled to comeback in the second half with ten men while Sri Lanka continued to look impressive.
Eleven minutes from the end Fazul Rahman bagged the third after getting behind the Bangla defence following a lovely through ball from the midfield.
Both sides fail to make the semis but Sri Lanka finish ahead of Bangladesh in the group.
