DPR Korea celebrate after scoring second goal against Sri Lanka at AFC challenge Cup at Hyderabad
Turkmenistan played out a 1-1 draw with World Cup participants DPR Korea despite playing with ten men for the majority of the second half in a Group B match at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Central Asians took a shock lead in the first half but couldn't hold on as the Koreans found the equaliser early in the second period.

DPR Korea came into this game as favourties so it wasn’t a surprise to see them dominate the opening exchanges.

They created the first chance as early as the sixth minute when Chae Tu-Yong found himself free behind the Turkmenistan defence but the forward could only force a fine save off Turkmen keeper Bayram.

Few minutes later DPR Korea went close again as Choe Chol-Man  tried his luck from a tight angle which went straight into the hands of Bayram.

The young Korean side continued to create chances but were not converting any of them while Turkmenistan were just happy to play the waiting the game.

Pak Song Chol was the next to try his luck for the Koreans but he failed to hit the target from a good position.

The Central Asians finally created a meaningful chance which fell to Karadanov Mamedaly but the forward could only head his effort over the bar.

DPR Korea continued to look dangerous but the opening goal was scored by Turkmenistan nine minutes before the break.

Striker Mamedaly showed a bit of individual brilliance to create space for himself inside the box before slotting the ball past Korean keeper Ju Kwang-Min.

Turkmenistan went into the halftime break with a shock one goal lead as DPR Korea could only blame themselves for not taking their chances.

But the Koreans leveled the scores just six minutes after the restart through Ryang Yong-Gi, who found the back of the net with a very well executed free-kick.

The equalizer gave the World Cuppers some momentum as they started to put more pressure on the Turkmen defence.

The Central Asian nation were reduced to ten men in the 67th minute when defender Berdiyev Omar was sent off for a second yellow card.

For the fourth straight match of the tournament there was a sending off but DPR Korea couldn’t make the most of their numerical advantage.

There were a few half chances till the final whistle but neither teams could score any more goals as the game ended all square.

DPR Korea will be disappointed with the result but Turkmenistan will be very happy as they fought their way to an unlikely point.
