According to Racing Santander coach, Juan Ramón Lopez Muniz, Lionel Messi would be nothing without his team-mates.
The comments come ahead of the clash between the two sides this weekend, in which Barcelona will be looking to exact some revenge after the draw at the Camp Nou earlier this season.
On that occasion, the home side dominated for much of the match but could not break Racing down, and Muniz knows that this encounter will be tough for his team.
Speaking to Sport, the coach spoke about the "enormous potential" of their opponents before claiming, "Messi without his team-mates would be nothing, although alone he is a great footballer himself."
Barcelona are one of the form teams coming into the match, but Racing themselves are not in bad form. The return of Nikola Zigic this winter has sparked a revival from los Verdiblancos.
Racing are undefeated since last November when they were beaten by Atlético Madrid and have picked up some impressive points lately, including a win at Sevilla.
Muniz acknowledged today that his team are taking things "a game at a time" but he did not rule out a high finish this season. Racing are looking to repeat their heroics of last year, when they managed to grab a UEFA Cup spot.
