Manchester City's executive chairman Garry Cook returned from Milan without Kaka and now the Citizens appear to be without Robinho, who has marched out of their Tenerife training camp

Irked Cook has now issued a verbal rally accusing Milan of acting without integrity - trying to grab the money before bowing to fan pressure and pulling out of the deal.

He told Sky Sports this morning: "We're ultimately disappointed. We travelled yesterday with good intentions and they bottled it.

"We entered into a confidentiality agreement several weeks ago. We wanted to go through the process in a professional manner; they didn't want that and were only thinking of money."

He further revealed that his travelling party never got near the Brazilian midfielder himself, saying: "The second stage was to sit down and speak to the player's rep, but we never spoke to the player. We never had our questions answered.

"The offer was made to the club, whose intent was to sell Kaka. Then, their story changed. It wasn't to be because they changed their tune."

City did land Craig Bellamy from West Ham United and Cook is bullish over the club's future, despite the high-profile disaster.

"We've got clear plans and won't stop," he insisted, "It's not the end because the club deserves great players for the future.

"Unlike many other clubs, we like to do our business internally - with integrity. We'll continue to do that.

"This club's been around for 100 years, so we'll absolutely move on.

He concluded: "The footballer was for sale, we engaged with the club in order to buy their footballer, but the landscape changed."
