Pompey To Pounce For Panetelic?
According to the latest speculation from Germany, Hertha Berlin bad-boy Marko Pantelic could be headed to Portsmouth in January.
The FA Cup holders have been linked to the 30-year-old in the past, and the uneasy nature of his current relationship with the German capital club suggests that he is ripe for the picking now.
Hertha are intent to hold on to Pantelic despite his high-profile bust-up with coach Lucien Favre, but so far there is a considerable chasm between what the player wants and what the club are prepared to pay to extend his summer-expiring contract.
The word is that the ex-Red Star Belgrade striker won't budge on his demands for a new €4 (£3.3) million-per-year deal, while Hertha are not prepared to cross the €3 (£2.5) million threshold.
Something's got to give, as the old saying goes.
