Large numbers of the crowd in Sao Paulo booed a young Brazil side as they struggled to a 1-0 win against Gordon Igesund's team, and the 50-year-old has admitted that the treatment they received spurred them on to win 8-0 against China on Monday.
“The team was brought to a rage in Sao Paulo,” he told lancenet.
“We needed to turn that feeling into energy. We just wanted to answer them on the pitch.
“Against China, we just wanted to show the ability we have. The team came out quickly, and weren't content with just a few goals. We knew we could do better [than against South Africa] and we showed that.
“We can't take a lot of answers from the China match. But I don't want to devalue our win.”
