Juninho signs new Vasco da Gama contract
The experienced Brazilian has commited his future to the Rio de Janeiro-based club by penning a six-month extension one year after returning to the Sao Januario
Vasco da Gama have announced that Juninho Pernambucano has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until the end of 2012.The 37-year-old had already agreed personal terms with Vasco regarding an extension last week, but the the Rio de Janeiro-based club only confirmed the deal on Monday afternoon.
Juninho's new contract is identical to his previous terms, with the former Olympique Lyonnais star's salary dependent on the number of matches he plays for the club.
There is also the possibility that he will be granted a new six-month extension in December if he remains fit.
"I was lucky enough to return to a club that is growing, that is trying to win things again," Juninho told reporters.
"I feel at home here. I have grown at this club, and we hope to win the Brasileirao. We have many matches coming up, so we need to be patient."
Juninho signed for Vasco in 2011 after a two-year spell at Qatari side Al-Gharafa, returning to the Sao Januario after a first stint there between 1995 and 2001.
