Santos stars Neymar & Ganso present Brazil shirt for 2012 Olympic Games
As the Selecao begin the quest for their first gold medal in history, the South American duo model the uniforms that will be on display in London
By Daniel Edwards
The young talents, both of whom are expected to be part of the Brazil squad which will be trying to win the nation's first-ever gold medal in the football event, modelled the home and alternate strips at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, Rio de Janeiro. They were accompanied by coach Mano Menezes, who spoke about both the new shirt and the team's chances in London.
Addressing journalists at the event, Menezes expressed his admiration for the strip, and applauded the switch to a more classical design.
"I think the uniform is beautiful, it is more traditional. I am a big fan of the more traditional look," the former Corinthians trainer explained.
Asked about the site of Brazil's Olympics preparations, the coach continued to state that he expected to train his charges in the Carioca city.
"It should be Rio de Janeiro. But the place still has not been confirmed," he asserted.
"We will carry out training in Brazil before the trip. That will be the start of our preparations. The most likely scenario will be to play two or three matches with just the Olympic squad. The rest of the work will be carried out together with our senior squad."
Brazil finished with the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and their best campaigns were silver-medal finishes in 1984 and 1988.
