The Buccaneers coach has revealed that his players will need to put last season's successful spell behind them as they focus on the new campaign
Pirates sent out a stern warning that they will be the team to beat this season after downing Kaizer Chiefs 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out during the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.
The Mighty Buccaneers, who won ‘The Treble’ last season, will start their defence of the MTN8 trophy against Bloemfontein Celtic at Orlando Stadium on Friday.
"The honeymoon is over. The Treble is history and now we must start to make new history in the new season," Palacios told KickOff.com.
"Its like a new competition and we are now starting afresh," Njenje added.
Palacios says that Pirates have got the depth to defend all the trophies they won last season.
"I am happy with the new signings and all seem to understand the responsibility of playing for Orlando Pirates.
"I think we have depth from the goalkeeping department to the striking force," he said.
The Bucs coach also confirms that they are working on the fitness of midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo and Takesure Chinyama, but that they will be playing for the club soon.
