Senegal national team caretaker coach Joseph Koto has been confirmed as head coach by the football federation (FSF).
The 52-year-old came on board following the withdrawal of Frenchman Pierre Lechantre, who failed to conclude a two-year deal with the body.
“The federal officials decided to confirm Mr Joseph Koto as the national team head coach during a meeting held on June 14 in Dakar. He is hereby officially named as coach of the national team of Senegal with as assistant Mr Karim Sega Diouf,” the FSF said on Thursday in a statement.
Koto led the Teranga Lions to defeat Liberia 3-1 and draw against Uganda 1-1 in the second round of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying last month, to top Group J with four points.
Senegal have been drawn against Cote d’Ivoire in the second and final round of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
