The Teranga Lions caretaker coach says his objective in the next match day of the World Cup qualifying is not to lose to the Cranes in Kampala in the absence of a win

After crushing Liberia 3-1 at home in Dakar last weekend and receiving kudos from officials and fans, Senegal new caretaker coach Joseph Koto says his next objective will be not to lose to Uganda on Saturday in Kampala.

“We will be going to Kampala to play our game and get the best possible result. Our aim is not to lose even if we don’t win,” Koto told reporters on Tuesday at the end of training session.

“We will try to scrape a win but if it appears impossible, we will struggle to settle for a draw. But the situation we want to avoid is a loss to the Cranes,” he added.

The Teranga Lions currently top Group J with three points ahead of Angola and Uganda, who are on one point each after they settled on a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Liberia are at the bottom of the table with zeri oiubts.

Koto came on board after Frenchman Pierre Lechantre pulled out of a deal to succeed Amara Traore, who was fired after Senegal failed to progress from the group stage at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
