While the Niger football federation says it was wrapping up a deal for the Frenchman, the Swiss club announced him as their new coach on Wednesday
The Niger national team may not have Rolland Courbis as coach following his new contract with Swiss side FC Sion.
The Niger football federation (Fenifoot) boss Djibril Hima Hamidou said early this month that the body was rounding off arrangements to confirm Courbis, who paired with former coach Harouna Doula at the helm of the Mena during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 58-year-old former Bordeaux, Toulouse and Marseille manager will end the season at Sion, and may continue, according to the club’s management.
Niger football officials, who still consider the Frenchman as the national team coach, are yet to react to the recent development.
Niger crashed out in the group stage of the 2012 Afcon, which was their first ever participation in the competition.
