Del Piero: I can't wait to play in Australia
The ex-Juventus star has expressed his delight after his summer move from the Serie A champions, but insisted that the Bianconeri will always have a place in his heart
Alessandro Del Piero has spoken of his eagerness to get his career with Sydney FC started after his summer move to the A-League from Juventus.
The 37-year-old's contract with the Italian champions expired and, after being linked with a number of clubs, the former Italy international eventually elected to join the Sky Blues, but stressed that he will always retain an affection for the Bianconeri.
"I am very excited, I can not wait to take the field," he told reporters. "I feel great emotions. I want to begin immediately.
"Juventus? In some ways this is just a [temporary] goodbye. I always said that the relationship with the Juventus fans is something that will never leave me, for this reason, as I said it is a goodbye."
Del Piero could make his debut at his new club when they travel to Wellington Phoenix on October 6.
