The Dubai club's entire board of management have handed in their resignations following a dismal first season under Argentine coach Diego Maradona
Diego Maradona's Al Wasl are in turmoil after the club's board of management handed in their resignations following a disappointing trophyless season.

Al Wasl made global headlines last year when they signed Maradona on a two-year deal however his first season in charge was ultimately disappointing.

The Dubai club finished the 2011-12 Pro-League season eighth, while they were knocked out of the President's Cup and Emirates Cup at the quarterfinal stage. Al Wasl also lost last Sunday's Gulf Clubs Championship final to Al Muharraq.

And now Al Wasl's board have handed in mass resignations, including company chairman Marwan bin Bayat.

“The club thanks the Board of Directors of Al Wasl Club and the management of Al Wasl Football Company for their efforts and will announce the new composition of the management later," Al Wasl wrote on Twitter.

It is understood his Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will appoint a new board in the next week.
