Churchill Brothers carry the Indian flag on Saturday evening as the team prepares for the crucial Champions League play-off against Al Wahda at Abu Dhabi. Carlos Pareira isn’t concerned much about the enormity of the task ahead but wants the players to go out and give their best.

Speaking to Goal.com, Carlos Pareira said, “It’s a big game for us and now it’s nt just about us as we are representing the whole of India.”

The I-League champions haven’t been in the best of forms off-late as they have managed to win just a single game of their five matches in the New Year and don’t look ‘Invincible’ anymore which they were tagged all last year.

“The last match against Salgaocar was very tough where we won towards the end. Still we are in a good position in the I-League.”

Goals aren’t being scored at their will as Churchill are known to be prolific goalscorers having the likes of Odafa Okolie and Felix Chimaokwu upfront. The duo haven’t set the stage on fire this season in the I-League and Pareira acknowledges that they need more firepower.

“Because of injuries to Durga Boro and Bineesh Balan, I don’t have many options. When I have to remove a player upfront and bring on somebody, there aren’t any options,” pointed Pareira.

Playing away from home in a top class competition isn’t an easy task so would that cause Churchill to opt for a rather defensive strategy given that they are known to pass the ball ahead at every opportunity.

“We have to ensure that we don’t concede as in the past we have given away some silly goals. Of course, Churchill’s style is to attack.”

Churchill Brothers shall miss the services of winger Khan Thang Paite as he suffered a knee injury in January and had an operation conducted last week.
