thumbnail Hello,

Schweinsteiger sour after narrowly missing out on the big final...

Bastian Schweinsteiger admitted his anger and frustration after failing to qualify for the World Cup final as Germany were unable to match Spain's quality.

La Furia Roja laid down the marker in Durban and ran out 1-0 winners following Carles Puyol's smash and grab header in the 73rd minute.

"I am angry because we were close to the final but then we did not play like we were supposed to," he told Kicker.

"Of course, Spain had more ball possession, they have very good fit players. But we must be better, too often we were chasing the ball.

"Against Spain we did not get many chances to score, and we should have done better when we had the odd chance."

Despite his feelings, the Bayern man was gracious in defeat, but took a swipe at teams his side beat en-route to Durban.

"Spain deserved to win, they are still one step better than England or Argentina. But we have seen that we have a good young team with a bright future."
