World Cup 2010: Injured Skipper Michael Ballack Believes "Time Has Come" For Germany

The newly signed Bayer Leverkusen midfielder commented on Germany's form and chances of winning the World Cup.
Injured Germany captain Michael Ballack believes that the time has come for his country to win a fourth World Cup.

"It will be difficult to beat Spain tonight, but this is our time," Ballack told The Times.

"Germany have been the best team in the World Cup and just have to keep it going. Spain deserved to win the European Championship final against us two years ago, but with the confidence we've gained from our past two performances [crushing victories over England and Argentina], I think it's our moment."

Ballack also added that youngster Thomas Mueller will be sorely missed: "[Mueller] scores goals, creates assists, and works hard for the team."

Ballack summed up Germany's mentality with a simple, but revealing statement:

"The point of entering a tournament is to win it."

Germany face Spain in the World Cup semi-final tonight, with the winner set to take on the Netherlands in Sunday's final.
