The 28-year-old reflected on the loss to the Netherlands.....Uruguay midfielder Egidio Arevalo-Rios said that he was proud of his team's achievement in South Africa despite failing to reach the final.
The two-time former World Cup winners lost 3-2 to the Netherlands in the semi-finals on Tuesday evening. The match was tied 1-1 at the half-time interval before the Dutch scored twice in quick succession in the second period. Although Maximiliano Pereira scored for the South Americans deep into injury time, it proved to be a mere consolation.
However, Uruguay midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios was not too disappointed with the defeat and was content with their great journey that not too many people expected at the start of the World Cup campaign.
"We had a good World Cup, things were done well. We achieved what couldn't be achieved for many years," he told Canal Cuatro."We won several matches too, it was important for us."
"We wanted to go long, go all the way, the group proposed it, but hey, we met a very tough team that plays good football," the 28-year-old concluded.
