World Cup 2010: Uruguay Striker Diego Forlan Delighted To Beat Ghana & Book Semi-Final Spot

Netherlands stand between them and the final...

Uruguay striker Diego Forlan has expressed his delight after his side overcame Ghana in an epic contest in Johannesburg to reach the semi-final of the World Cup where they will face Netherlands.

Ghana took the lead through Sulley Muntari before Forlan equalised in the second half and the Black Stars could have won it in extra-time but Asamoah Gyan's penalty rattled the bar after Luis Suarez handled on the line, gifting the South Americans a lifeline which they seized in the shoot-out.

"It's impressive to be among the top four teams in the world, it is something for which I have no words. For each penalty it felt like I would faint," he declared to the press before revealing the team's nerves when Sebastian Abreu stepped up to take the final spot kick.

"Somebody said, 'he's going to do it' and we were just saying 'don't miss, don't miss' but it went in."

The Atletico Madrid striker is hoping the people of Uruguay are celebrating the win and said they will try to be at their best for the tie against the Dutch on Tuesday.

"It's amazing. This goes on and now we can rest. Let the people celebrate all they have to celebrate and we will try to be ready for Tuesday," he noted.
