World Cup 2010: Spain Hero David Villa Expecting Tough Test Against Paraguay

El Guaje was the difference on the scoreboard this evening, as he helped secure a passage to the quarter-finals...

Spain forward David Villa admits that despite dominating possession and winning 1-0 against Portugal, la Furia Roja suffered at times.

The 28-year-old scored the lone goal of the match in the 62nd minute, putting the 2008 European champions through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

"I am very happy for the win, although we suffered a lot," Villa stated post-match to AS. "We deserved to win, so I believe the result is fair.

"They finished really well and individually have two excellent central defenders, but luckily, we were able to take one of our chances.

"My aim is to keep scoring like this, especially in the big matches, so we can advance through the tournament.

"I thank the fans for their support. We have kept on improving as a side after the loss to Switzerland in the opening match.

The new Barcelona signing believes that the Furia Roja's next opponents will be more difficult than Portugal.

"We know what has occurred in previous matches, like against Switzerland. Paraguay will be tougher than Portugal because they have reached the quarter-finals for the first time," he concluded.
