World Cup 2010: Chelsea Midfielder Deco Ruled Out Of Portugal's Final Group G Match Against Brazil
Hip injury sidelines star...
Portugal midfielder Deco has failed to recover from a hip injury in time to face Brazil in the World Cup 2010 Group G decider. The Chelsea star has endured a difficult campaign since picking up the knock and publicly criticising head coach Carlos Queiroz in the wake of the opening 0-0 draw with the Ivory Coast. Despite only featuring for an hour in the tournament, he was expected to play a prominent role for his adopted nation if declared fit.
Speaking to reporters today, Queiroz confirmed Deco is "injured still" and will be rested on the bench for the second round. Portugal require a draw against the South Americans to guarantee progression to the knockout stages, although their superior goal difference gives them some breathing room.
