World Cup 2010: Brazil's Elano Admits He Is Likely To Miss Portugal Clash

Brazilian struggling to recover from knock…
Brazil midfielder Elano has revealed he is likely to miss his side’s final World Cup Group G fixture with Portugal on Friday as he struggles to overcome the injury he picked up in the Selecao’s victory over Ivory Coast on Sunday.

The former Manchester City man, who trained alone today, was asked whether he would feature against Portugal.

“How can I do that? I’m in pain,” he replied to ESPN Brasil.

The 29-year-old Galatasaray midfielder, reportedly on his way to Inter following the World Cup, picked up a bruised shin following a meaty challenge from Ivory Coast midfielder Cheik Tiote and admitted he was thankful he hadn’t broken his leg.

With qualification already secured, and Kaka suspended, reports suggest Dani Alves will come in for Elano while Roma’s Julio Baptista is likely to replace Kaka.
