World Cup 2010: Netherlands Coach Bert Van Marwijk Happy With Win Over Denmark

The Netherlands defeated Denmark 2-0 in their opening game of the 2010 World Cup finals on Monday afternoon to go top of their group. A goal in each half was enough for the Oranje to register a convincing win over the Danes.
Speaking after the match, Holland coach Bert van Marwijk expressed his delight at picking up maximum points. He told NOS: "We hardly gave away any chances. Denmark are a very defensive team and you have to be patient. I'm very relieved that we picked up the full three points.
"We were in control for the biggest part of the match, aside from the 15 minutes before the break. It was a superb start to the second half and we got more space after the first goal. We got chances to score even more and could easily have added one or two more goals."
The 58-year-old continued: "The entrance of Eljero Elia really added something. It's nice to know that we have several options up front. Rafael van der Vaart did very well in the friendly against Ghana from that position.
"It's a good start to the tournament and I'm satisfied with the final result."
