thumbnail Hello,

‘Super Simo’ holds no grudges against Lippi…

Simone Perrotta says he is not losing any sleep over Italy head coach Marcello Lippi’s decision to omit the Roma midfielder from his World Cup squad.

Perrotta, 32, played a key role in Italy’s triumph at the World Cup in Germany four years ago, but Lippi has named only nine members of that squad in his provisional 28-man list.

“I respect Lippi’s choice,” Perrotta told Roma Channel.

“It means that I will go on holiday without any problems.”

Italy will start their pre-tournament training camp at the mountain resort of Sestriere today and Lippi will have to axe five more players before submitting his final squad by the June 1 deadline.
