Napoli man disappointed to miss out on World Cup slot…Napoli winger Jesus Datolo has expressed his disappointment at being left out of Diego Maradona’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in South Africa this summer, but insisted he would support los Albicelestes to the death.
"Before hearing the decision I could not sleep,” Datolo, who spent the last season on loan at Olympiacos and was named in Maradona’s provisional 30-man squad, told TyC Sports. “It was difficult, but it has happened,” he added.
Despite being on the periphery of the Argentina squad, the 26-year-old, who has earned all three of his international caps under Maradona, impressed whenever called upon by El Diego and grabbed himself a goal in both the friendly against Russia and in Argentina’s 3-1 defeat to Brazil during qualification.
“I have taken it well,” he continued. “I would like to be [at the World Cup], but now I have to think about supporting the team and being a good team-mate.
“I'm going to support Argentina to the death and I appreciate being among the 30. I think it's good to receive the recognition.”
