World Cup 2010: Simone Pepe Hoping To Keep Italy Place

Pepe is trying to convince Lippi...
Italy winger Simone Pepe has assessed his chances of World Cup success, as he hopes he can secure his place on the plane to South Africa.

Coach Marcello Lippi, who awarded Pepe his Nazionale debut in October 2008, will announce his list of 23 plus four reserves on Tuesday.

And Pepe hopes Lippi's axe falls elsewhere as he aims to prove his worth by firing the team to glory next month.

"I don't know if I will be part of the final 23, but we want to do well like four years ago."

Lippi will hand FIFA his final list of 23 on June 1 before the Azzurri play friendlies against Mexico in Brussels and Switzerland in Geneva.
