World Cup 2010: Roma Coach Claudio Ranieri Excludes Immediate Italy Role

Ranieri has said the Italy team is not in his plans just yet...
Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has given his account on reports linking him with the Italy bench once Marcello Lippi leaves his post after the World Cup.

The 'Tinkerman' says he is keen to remain with Roma before stepping up to the Italy podium.

"Italy temptation? There is only one future for me. I can only thank the FIGC if they considered me, but I am thinking about Roma for now as I have started something and I want to finish it," he told Sky Sport 24.

The door is not shut firmly on the Azzurri though as Ranieri leaves it tactfully open.

"In future I would like to coach a national team. Hopefully it will be the Italian one. I would like to coach them during a European Championships or World Cup."
