World Cup 2010: Claudio Marchisio ‘Proud’ Of Strong Juventus Contingent In Italy Squad

Lippi won’t regret his choices…

Midfielder Claudio Marchisio insists Italy boss Marcello Lippi’s decision to include eight Juventus players in his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup finals is not a gamble.

Many eyebrows have been raised in Italy at Lippi’s selection choices as Juventus are the most represented side despite enduring a dismal season.

“It was not a great season for us, but we will give our all to give a good account of ourselves at the World Cup,” Marchisio told Sky Sport 24.

“We are proud of these call-ups. It means that we have the manager’s trust, even though our season didn’t go well.

“A trust that we will have to repay with adequate performances. We want to have a great World Cup.”
