World Cup 2010: Ticket Sales Approaching A Sell-Out
With exactly a month to go before the event kicks off on African soil, 90 per cent of the tickets have been sold.

At a press conference held this morning in the auditorium of the venue of July's World Cup final, Local Organising Committee CEO Dr Danny Jordaan revealed that sales had reached the 90 per cent mark.
"All tickets will be sold out. I am quite confident of that," said Jordaan. "About 300,000 tickets were sold in the last few weeks alone," he told the press conference.
Ticket sales have been heavily scrutinised over the past few months, and concerns over empty stadiums were raised in the media, but as the showpiece tournament approaches, the venues are filling up well.
Difficult ticketing systems and internet based applications seemed to have been to blame for the slow start, but as FIFA opened over-the-counter sales, South Africans have come to the party to snap up most of the remaining tickets.
Around 2.8 million tickets were made available for the World Cup, and over the next 30 days the LOC are hopeful of selling the rest.
