An Algerian fan expressing his excitement before the match between Algeria and Serbia.
The July 5 Stadium was full five-and-a-half hours before the beginning of the match.
The supporters came from all four corners of the country, leaving their homes early in the morning. Of course, they took great care to pack their lunches to take with them so as not to risk losing their places at the stadium by going to the restaurant.
Supporters from the city of Mostaganem, which is located at 350 km away from Algiers were on the road for three hours so as not to miss the match. At 11am, six hours before the beginning of the match, they were already at the stadium.
Even disabled fans make every effort to attend the matches of the Algerian national team, proving that the fans are behind their team with body and soul.
The July 5 Stadium before it became full, and it was already impressive.
The atmosphere in the venue was extraordinary and it cannot be said enough. The Algerians are crazy about the national team.
Algeria won the World Cup. And yes, it’s a joke, but a replica of the trophy was present in the stands at the stadium.
There are only three colours in the stands: green, white and red. A perfect mix of colours to make up our proud flag.
With the night having fallen, the atmosphere becomes even more colourful.
Supporters of all ages attended the match. More proof that this national team interests everyone.
To have the best view, the supporters don't hesitate to climb the floodlights. Only in Algeria will the fans take as many risks.
Of course, the love for football doesn’t prevent people from achieving their daily prayers towards God. An immutable ritual.
The scoreboard in the stands of the July 5 Stadium. It had been more than one decade since a European team had last played in Algiers.
