World Cup 2010: Palermo Defender Simon Kjaer Rejects Manchester United Suggestions To Focus On South Africa
Manchester United are not even in Kjaer's sights as he envisages more time with Palermo, and a good World Cup run with Denmark...
Palermo defender Simon Kjaer has rejected suggestions he would leap at the chance to join Manchester United during the January transfer window, claiming the World Cup is more important.
A report from the Daily Mail on Tuesday morning claimed United were in pole position to snatch the Danish international and deprive the Rosanero of their star man.
However, Kjaer has said he will not be leaving the club as he pledges his allegiance to them.
"Manchester United? I am happy here in Palermo and I want to help with the push for European football," Kjaer is quoted as saying by La Repubblica.
"I have three years to go on my contract. Plus, I have not spoken to anyone and I am fully focussed on Palermo."
Having underlined his objectives in Serie A, Kjaer was eager to revive the embers of World Cup thinking.
"The World Cup will be an incredible experience for me, but I don't think it will serve as a shople window. I am concentrated on Palermo, even after the World Cup," he added.
"Will another season at Palermo be good for me? I cannot think about what will happen in six months, I have to think day by day."
