Algerian Players Thrilled With World Cup Qualification
The Fennecs have expressed their absolute joy at having beaten Egypt 1-0 in Khartoum on their way to South Africa.
Algeria’s national team footballers could not hold back
their excitement after having defeated Egypt in their World Cup qualifying play-off
match in Khartoum today as each and every one of them expressed their happiness
in their own manner.
During his the wild celebrations that followed the final whistle, Fawzi Chaouchi, the man who replaced Lounes Gaouaoui in the lineup and erased some certain Egyptian goals, made mention to the team’s struggles against the Pharoahs and how the toughness of the task made their victory even sweeter.
“We proved that we are men capable of facing such a difficult challenge. The Egyptians made us suffer some of the worst pressure but we knew how to respond and ensure our World Cup qualification. God gave us what we deserved,” exclaimed the glovesman while speaking to Al Heddaf.
Meanwhile, striker Rafik Saifi evoked the frightening episode that him and his team-mates had to endure in Cairo when their bus was attacked by hooligans on their way to their hotel.
“It’s divine justice. After everything that we went through as far as provocations, intimidation, and aggression in Egypt, god gave us the force to fight four days after to realize a historic feat. Men are the ones who know how to come back from difficult moments and we did it, thank god,” he said.
Algeria have qualified for their first World Cup in 24 years and will be the only North African and Arab representatives at the prestigious event next summer.
