An experimental Italy side, without any of 2006's World Cup winners in the starting eleven, beat Sweden 1-0 tonight in Cesena in a friendly and coach Marcello Lippi was happy with what he saw.

"I'm satisfied with the match, both sides wanted to come forward and score," he said to Rai.

"It's true that we had none of the World Champions on the pitch, but all of the newcomers played with enthusiasm."

On the spirit of the Italian national team, Lippi said, "Our spirit has always been good. Today everyone participated well. However, we still have a lot of work to do before the World Cup.

"The draw? We'll see who we get, it doesn't really matter."

The World Cup draw is set to take place on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Asked about his own future, the World Cup winning coach commented, "These are things I discuss with the president."
