I Don't Know Why Antonio Cassano Isn't In Italy Squad - Daniele De Rossi
The midfielder has waded into the debate on the "ugly story" that is keeping 'Fantantonio' out of the Azzurri setup...
Lippi has denied all knowledge of a sinister back story, and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has also expressed his bemusement at the claims.
"I don't know the ugly story that has gone on between Lippi and Cassano," De Rossi reflected in an interview with ANSA.
"I think that Garrone was misinterpreted, or maybe he exaggerated the story because he wants the national coach to call up his player."
De Rossi has previously stated his belief that Cassano's exclusion is down to a lack of goals, but he has reneged on those words and has hinted that his former Roma team-mate should be included in Lippi's next squad.
"Antonio is doing some great things. Is there a non-technical reason to why he isn't being selected? I think it's normal that Lippi is evaluating everyone.
"I shouldn't say anything to him, as there are many good players even if they are not as spectacular as Cassano."
