The 29-year-old midfielder has hailed his compatriot's "winning mentality" and praised the Rossoneri boss for settling back in so quickly at San SiroNigel de Jong has expressed his support for Clarence Seedorf, admitting that he hopes his fellow Dutchman is allowed to stay on as AC Milan coach.
Seedorf only took charge of the Serie A side in January, succeeding Massimiliano Allegri at the helm after a dreadful first half of the season for the Rossoneri that had left the club languishing just above the relegation zone.
However, despite leading Milan to a creditable eight-place finish, as well as a derby win over Inter, the former Netherlands international's future at San Siro is very much in doubt, much to the disappointment of De Jong.
"I like Seedorf," the midfielder told Algemeen Dagblad. "We have the same winning mentality. I hope he stays at Milan.
"The coach took during the season but he integrated immediately. We have a background in common. We have the same winning mentality and we never lose our identity."
De Jong, who scored the winner in the victory over Inter earlier this month, also revealed that he was pleased by his performances during the 2013-14 campaign.
"Personally, I'm satisfied," the 29-year-old confessed. "I've played consistently and I've even learned how to score!"
