Barzagli: Serie A title race not over yet

The Italy international has warned that anything can still happen in the remainder of the season, while he was pleased with the Old Lady's defensive performance against Fiorentina
Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli has stressed that the Serie A leaders cannot afford to rest on their laurels as he feels the race for the Scudetto is not over just yet.

The champions hold a 14-point lead over second-placed Roma after Sunday's 1-0 win over Fiorentina and their rivals' defeat against Napoli, which prompted Rudi Garcia to concede the title race was effectively over.

However, Barzagli has warned it is too soon to say the title race has been decided, telling the official Juve website: "We've got an excellent lead over Roma in the table, but the league campaign isn't over yet."

Barzagli then went on to discuss his side's performance against Fiorentina and admitted he was thrilled with the Bianconeri's display in defence.

"It's important to keep a clean sheet in these games. During a certain period it appeared that every opposition shot ended up as a goal," he said.

"Even if it was with a bit of luck on our side, it's good that we're not conceding. The most crucial thing is the team's attitude."

Juventus and Fiorentina meet again on Thursday in the Europa League round of 16.
