Former Inter president Massimo Moratti has insisted that he has no regrets over his decision to sign Argentine attacker Mauro Icardi ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.
The Nerazzurri spent big during the summer transfer window to lure the 20-year-old away from Sampdoria, but he has so far been unable to live up to the high expectations at his new club, as well as making headlines for all the wrong reasons because of his relationship with the ex-wife of former team-mate Maxi Lopez, Wanda Nara.
Icardi has netted just twice in eight Serie A appearances for Inter and has mainly been warming the bench under head coach Walter Mazzarri.
Nevertheless, Moratti is confident that the former Barcelona youngster will eventually become a success at the Giuseppe Meazza side.
"I do not regret signing Icardi for Inter," the former Nerazzurri supremo told reporters.
"Leaving aside his personal situation, which I think will settle down now, he's a top-notch player and I'm sure he'll prove it."
