The ex-Rossoneri defender believes Massimiliano Allegri should remain in charge of the struggling side for the time being but is tipping the former striker for a future role

Former AC Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta believes Filippo Inzaghi would make a better future coach than Clarence Seedorf.

Botafogo midfielder Seedorf has frequently been linked with a return to San Siro as a replacement for the under-fire Massimiliano Allegri, whose side were forced into a showdown meeting with furious supporters after their 1-1 draw with 10-man Genoa at the weekend.

While Zambrotta insists Allegri remains the right man to steer the Rossoneri out of their current malaise, he feels Inzaghi - who currently coaches the Under-17 side - would be the better choice in future.

"At this moment in time it would probably be best left to Allegri to lead the side out of this situation," he told RAI Sport.

"For the future, though, I think Inzaghi would be more prepared for the coach role than Seedorf."

Milan's draw with Genoa leaves them 13th in Serie A, 20 points adrift of league leaders Juventus, and Zambrotta - who left the club along with Seedorf in 2012 - feels the number of inexperienced players in the squad is beginning to tell.

"I think there is a lack of experience in the squad," said the 2006 World Cup winner. "But I still think Allegri has control of the squad.

"This is a difficult moment for the team and they unfortunately can’t count on players such as Mattia De Sciglio and Stephan El Shaarawy, players who really helped last term."
