The Nerazzurri coach is confident that the experienced defender will soon return to match action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines
Inter coach Walter Mazzarri has stressed that it's only a matter of time before Javier Zanetti makes his comeback from injury.
The 40-year-old was included in the Nerazzurri's match squad for their 3-0 win over Udinese at the weekend for the first time since sustaining an Achilles tendon injury back in April and even though he did not feature against the Stadio Friuli side, Mazzarri is confident that Zanetti will be back in action shortly.
"Of course we have to be careful because Javier needs time, but I believe that he will make his comeback soon," Mazzarri told reporters.
"I was uncertain whether to let him enter the pitch or not because he seems to be in good condition.
"I've asked the other players not to put him under too much pressure during training because he has just got back, but he seems so comfortable with the ball that he could have featured if I had decided to play him."
The victory over Udinese leaves Inter fourth in Serie A, nine points off leaders Roma.
