Roma defender Federico Balzaretti has expressed his delight at being handed an Italy recall for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Denmark.
The 31-year-old left-back returns to Cesare Prandelli's squad for the first time since November 2012 after some fine performances in Giallorossi's 100 per cent start to the season.
"I'm delighted to be back in the squad, and I owe a lot to my Roma team-mates for this," he told reporters.
"It's not about me though. The most important aspect is always the team and not the individuals.
"I am looking ahead to Brazil next summer, and hope that I can remain in the squad until then."
Balzaretti also spoke about Roma's sensational start to the campaign, which has seen them win all seven league games under new head coach Rudi Garcia.
"Before the new coach arrived, there was a bad atmosphere and lots of tension among the players," he continued.
"Now it is quite the opposite. There is great confidence among the players, and the more we win the more belief we have in ourselves. It's comforting."
Balzaretti made his Italy debut in 2010 and has won 15 caps for the Azzurri to date.
