Massimo Ambrosini's agent has revealed his client is on the verge of joining Fiorentina, claiming the deal could go through as nearly as next week.
The 36-year-old midfielder is a free agent, with AC Milan having decided against offering the former Italy international a contract extension, and is now set to move to the Artemio Franchi on a free transfer.
"Massimo will be here next week and I think that we're in the home stretch," Ambrosini's representative, Moreno Roggi, told Lady Radio. "We're only waiting for Fiorentina to call us.
"Florence is indeed a popular destination, not only for him but also in Europe; just think of the cases of [Mario] Gomez and [David] Villa."
Ambrosini, who was capped 35 times by the Azzurri, joined Milan from Cesena in 1995 and won four Serie A titles and two Champions Leagues during his time at San Siro.
