The Giallorossi midfielder has hit out at the “lies” surrounding his future at the Stadio Olimpico as rumours of a move to the Premier League continue to surface
The 29-year-old has spent his entire career at the Stadio Olimpico but has been heavily linked with a switch to England, with Chelsea the latest team to vie for his signature.
And he has revealed that he is currently enjoying playing for Italy at the Confederations Cup because there is less pressure on his shoulders from the public.
“When I come to the national team I am considered an important player,” he told La Repubblica.
“But In Rome I have to be careful how I move and what I say. There are a lot of shameful slanders directed towards me.
“There are a lot of lies in Roma. I don’t know where they come from but I have to learn to deal with it.
“There have been some crazy rumours in the past, but you have to deny them.”
De Rossi found himself on the fringes at Roma for much of last season after an alleged bust-up with former coach Zdenek Zeman.
