The 26-year-old's parent has told a Uruguayan radio station that he wants to leave the Partenopei, as Europe's top sides wait in the wings
Speculation on the 26-year-old's future has heated up following a radio interview with Berta Gomez, who admitted that her son is looking to leave the club as Europe's elite wait in the wings to make a bid.
"He has told me he wants to go elsewhere and to leave Napoli," Gomez told Uruguayan station Radio Salto.
"Edi doesn't know what will happen yet. Naples is a city that lives for football. The affection of the people is marvellous and I have always told my son, 'You can go anywhere, but nobody will love you like they do at Napoli.'"
Cavani has scored 24 times for Napoli this season, who sit second in Serie A behind Juvenuts. The striker has a €60 million release clause in his contract, and has admitted he would find it hard to stay at the club if they failed to convince him the squad was good enough to win silverware.
Should he become available in the summer, Real Madrid are also rumoured to be interested in securing the Uruguayan's services.
